Shade Cloth is meant to provide shade and cooling. The mesh allows the air to flow thru and does not trap the heat under it. It is constructed of HDPE and holds up to the sun very well and are extremely rugged. Sails are built with a Stainless Steel Wire sewn into the hem all the way around the sail, Once tensioned the wire provides a continuous tension along the edge of the sail. All the stitching is done with rot proof Tenara -Goretex Thread so the stitching will standup to the sun for years to come without the need for restitching.
